Bill NighyBill Nighy was born in 1949 in Croydon. He trained at Guildford School of Dance and Drama. Since then he has found continuous work as an actor, on stage, screen and radio. His stage work includes National Theatre roles in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia in 1993, David Hare's Skylight and Blue Orange. His film role as Roger in 2002's Lawless Heart gained Nighy a Best Actor nomination from the British Independent Film Awards. He won the Evening Standard's Peter Sellers Award for best comedy performance in 1998's hit ensemble comedy Still Crazy (which received two Golden Globe nominations, for Best Film and Best Song). Among his feature film credits are Underworld, I Capture the Castle, and FairyTale: A True Story. His extensive television credits include countless projects for the BBC: The Young Visitors; Auf Wiedersehen Pet; Absolute Hell; The Men's Room; Antonia and Jane; Dreams of Leaving and of course, Grumpy Old Men. He is married to actress Diana Quick and they have a daughter, Mary. |
